It's NaNoWriMo

For those of you who do not know it is Nanowrimo, or National Novel Writing Month. Yet again it is the time of the year to pick up the pens and get down some major word countage. So far on my novel I am at about 13,000 words and counting. I am getting a little worried though because I am getting bored of the story and with the characters. I guess the next couple of weeks will be the hardest to keep writing, it goes until the end of November (It started Nov. 1st). This is not the farthest I've gotten on a novel but the month isn't over yet. I will try to keep you updated on my progress.
If you are interested in Nanowrimo go to nanowrimo.org and check it out.

New Novels New Me

Its been a while. I have longed to write on here and let you all know that I am all right but sadly enough my access to computers is limited at best. I will try to keep you posted. I have started more novels and yet to finish any but that is okay. I have started my autobiography and that has brought up some demons. Talk to you later.

No Progress

I have yet to pick up a pen this week that I have had off. It is kind of sad seeing as how I have be doing nothing else really but doing internet shopping even though I have no money. I did make a trip to the library and picked up some books though despite the heat (it was 105F). Other than that I do not have much of an update for you guys. Sorry. Perhaps next time.

Summer

Sorry for not posting for a while but I was waiting for the replacement keyboard to come in the mail and the onscreen keyboard is sooo slow. Anywho I haven't writen much but I have done a bit more research on my detective novel (Broken Hearted) thanks to the library. I will try to write more this coming week because I have this week off before I start summer school. I will try to update you by the end of the week. Maybe sooner if anything comes up. Till then...

New Blogs

I have created a new blog with another coming shortly. One is a writing prompt blog, the other is a blog about my drastic change in lifestyle recently. Other than that I don't have much news on my novels. I'm still making slow progress. Hopefully I will have more news for you all soon enough. Till then check out my other blogs.

Where to start...?

I have been busy recently sorry. I have been job searching and switching schools. I have a job interview on coming up in a few days so I am trying to prepare for that. Any way on to about writing...
I wrote a short science fiction piece for a homework assignment and my teacher said that it was some quality science fiction and that he enjoyed reading it. As a writer who doesn't dabble in the science fiction genre it was surprising that a first shot would be enjoyable to read. I have read science fiction before but only from recommendations from people that I trust. I am think that I might try to add on to the story a little bit I think it definately has potential for a good story but I have little confidence that in expansion I will find a successful story. It is worth a shot anyway.
Till next time...

Busy, Busy, Busy

For the last week my life has picked up the pace. I have been exhausted, sleeping all day with barely a minute to myself to write my stories. A positive is that the boredom has faded. I hope I can find a happy medium soon so that I can find time to write again. Well off to bed, I have to be up early tomarrow. Sorry that this was just a small check in and not a longer blog. I hope to talk to you all soon. Till the next time...

Bord!!!!

I am bored out of my mind. I am sick and tired of getting up everyday and doing the exact same things all the time. I am bored to tears with my life. Maybe all of this is seed in some deep down frustration, or maybe it really is the monotony of everyday of finally getting me after months of being confined to my house. I crave change and human interaction with people other than family members. I want to live my life. Ugggh. Sooo Bored. This may seem unrelated to my novel writing but this in fact directly relates to it. I have been so bored by everything that I have not been writing. Hopefully something changes so that I will write again soon, but honestly right now it just doesn't sound to appealing to me. Well I am off to wallow in the monotonous boredom that is my life at the moment. Till next time...

Old Material New Ideas

First off I would like to thank you all for you thoughtful comments the most recent being Maggie's. Thank you guys. Now onto the title. I was sitting there one day just thinking about what I wanted to do and going over the many novels that I was currently writing and I remembered one I had started to write a long time ago. The story had no name and I had only written a few pages but had an idea of where I wanted the story to go. I went to go look for the notebook that it was in and I couldn't find it anywhere. It was and is officially lost. Luckily for me it was a very memorable story. I have managed to write a decent copy of what I remember of the stories beginning. I am missing one crucial part but I am hoping that it will come to me eventually. I haven't gotten further than I did the first time because my brother decided my notebook needed a day at the spa and smeared it with lotion. I just spent the last two days copying words from sopy and crinkly pages to a fresh clean notebook. Needless to say I am frustrated. I have decided to start up a Youth Writer's club at my local library and semi online. Once I get the club going I will be starting a collective blog that all members can access. I think a collective blog is a great idea but it might just turn out as a garbled mess, who knows. It will be a fun experience anyway.

Sadness

I believe that I have reached a point in which I will not be able to finish. I regret my past decisions to not sit down and write more often. I still plan on writing and finishing the novel but it looks as if it will be finished at a later date. I will continue to keep you posted. I have started writing my other novels as well again. It is not that I am abandoning Something Fantastical, it is that I have more motivation to work on my mystery at the moment. I have recently watched the Sherlock BBC Series and it has brought about a renewed drive to create a devilishly difficult mystery. I hope that my novel is complicated enough to keep my audiences attention. Till later I suppose...

Slow

My writing is going very slowly. I believe that I will not make it. I have been trying to write but I have hit a brick wall. I know where I want to go with the story and have a detailed outline but I sit down to write and end up sitting and staring at the page for an hour. The last couple of days I don't think I have made any progress save one sentence. This does not fare well for my goal of reaching 60,000 words by the end of 30 days. For those of you keeping track this is day 15 and I highly doubt that I have 30,000 words. I will still try to write this book exclusively but there is no garuntee of completion any time soon. Now all I need is a literary sledge hammer for the stupid brick wall. Until I find it I will have a very bruised forehead. Till next time...

Thanks all of You

I would like to take this time to thank all of you for your support so far. I have decided to just write that part for now. I can perfect it in the rewrite. I have made little progress but I have made progress. I am beginning to worry that I may not be able to finish on time. Hopefully my fears do not turn out to be the truth. I shall keep you all posted. Looking forward to April Fools. Also I have a new website. Visit if you would like it has more information on my book titles and works in progress. Would love your feedback. http://tmevanswriter.weebly.com Talk to you all soon.

Progress

I am slowly but surely raising the word count everyday. I don't have an exact number for you because half of it is written in a notebook not the computer, making word count harder to get. I figure I can count it all up at the end and see if I made it. The way I see it, if I count all the words right now it cuts into precious writing time. Last night I had a little break down though. I could use your help. I need a phrase that is similar to this one but sounds more put together. Any help would be appreciated. Traveling may get you places but you never know where you'll end up.

Bad/Good News

Okay guys I have decided to set down the mystery novel for now and work on a novel that I have been meaning to write for close to a year now. It's title is Something Fantastical and I am very proud of the plot, which I am sorry to say will not be revealed at this time. To keep me from flip flopping again I have decided to sit down and write this baby in one solid month. That is right folks a month to finish a full length novel. It may sound crazy but it has been done before, by other writers not me. Though I have attempted this before I have failed. What makes this time different you might ask. This is a novel I am dying to write. It may sound silly but I feel like this is the novel I was meant to write. When I look at it it feels like it was the whole reason I became a writer, and that is the best feeling in the world. It does make writing a little daunting though. I have many worries but mostly that my writing is not worthy of the story I have come up with. Hopefully these doubts will subside as I write. Well I am off to write some more and stop procrastinating. This is day 2 in case anyone wants to count along with me.

On To Chapter Two

I have officially finished Chapter one and have moved on to chapter two. I am really psyched about this story. I hit a rough patch for a couple of days but I think that I am over it now. My detective is still interviewing people from the crime scene but hopefully that will be over soon and we can get on to the really juicy stuff. Till next time...

Observation

I have noticed something with my new story. It isn't coming as easily as some of the others did at the beginning. It is getting harder to think of what scenes to write next or how to continue on from the last one. I don't know why this story is particularly hard. I hope it gets easier as I keep going. I think I just about have the first chapter all done. I have introduced the detective the victim is found and a suspect is already in custody. Seems like it is moving to quickly from just that tidbit but it makes sense in the story. Anyway I am missing alternative suspects and some clues. I just need to think it through some more, maybe then it will come a little bit easier to me. One can only hope.

NEW NOVEL!!!

This might just be a longer form of procrastination but I have taken on another novel. This one is different from my usual stories because it is a mystery. I have written in most genres before with the exception of mystery and sci-fi so this should be an entirely new experience. I am still in the planning phase which I usually don't stay in for more than two days. It has been a week and a half. It is harder with a mystery because you have to know exactly where you are going with it so that you can give the appropriate clues throughout the story. I should be moving into the writing phase soon. Hopefully I get this right the first time around, I would hate to have to rewrite it 5 times to get it right, but I would if I had to. I really want to get this one right. I love the story idea and I think that it is pretty unique, at least I haven't run into it anywhere. I am really excited to get writing. Till next time, which will hopefully be soon, see ya.

Good News!!!

I had a small side project going which I finished really quickly. I wrote a children's book. I have already found an illustrator for it and we have meet and talked about rates and other boring stuff. I am really happy. Once all the illustrations are done then I can go to a publisher with a finished product. This is so exciting. I just wish the illustrator could finish faster I want to get this baby to a publisher asap. The wait is killing me. Wish me patience and luck.

Snake found

My beloved pet snake found I have dived head first into the dangerous waters of novel writing. I have hit a creative road block. It is not so much that I can't write it is that I can't write the part that I want to write. It is very specific writer's block and I hate it. If it doesn't get better in a couple of days, and I haven't gone crazy, then I will post asking for your help. Wish me luck. No seriously, start wishing.

I'm Back

Sorry for the long break. I was admitted to the hospital and once I got out my pet snake escaped. It has kind of been one thing after another. I am still looking for my snake who has been missing for a day now. I am worried sick about him. I still managed to get on and blog though and am happy to be back. Thanks for the concern Maggie I am doing a lot better now. Sorry if I worried any of you. Understandably I haven't written much for my novels but plan on getting back down to business soon. Blog at ya later.

Sick

Hey guys lately I haven't been feeling all that well. Actually I upchucked yesterday and today was recovery. Luckily I do feel a lot better. I haven't written since my last post because of being sick and not wanting to upchuck on my novel and whatnot. I will hopefully have a new page count the next time I blog. I am actually really excited to write now that I know where it is going, or at least think that I know. Off for some late night writing, talk to you all later.

Plot

Unfortunately I have only written one page since the last time that I blogged. Good news is that I have figured out the whole rest of my story. I'm not saying that it will follow my plan but at least I have an idea of where I am going with it.

Hired Help

I have "hired" a family friend to type out my handwritten novel so I have a typed version of it(she is doing it for free). It may sound like I'm being lazy but wait until you hear the best part. I type about 40 wpm and the family friend I have mentioned above types on average about 80 wpm, so having her type up my story is a real big time saver. Giving me more time to write my novel. Speaking of which I have made progress. I am at 30 pages. Still awaiting the arrival of my typewriter ink to continue on Masquerade aka novel #2. Things might be moving a little faster now though because I know pretty much how it is going to go from here on out. I guess I figured that out today when writing the lead up to what is going to be the first real exciting action of my book. I am looking forward to continuing it. Off to write some more. Hopefully I will get some of my story up here soon. Thanks for reading. Till next time...

Found It

Hey guys. Wondering what the  title is about? Well I found a section of In The Dark that I had written a few weeks ago. This plus what I have written during the car trip brings my total page count up to 27 pages. Oh yeah, I am back home in Bloomington MN. We made it home safely. Now that I am home I can crack down, do research, and write my novels in the comfort of my cozy chair. Speaking of research I need to be watching Interview With a Vampire as soon as I am done here. I didn't particularly like it the first time through I have decided to referencing it  in my novel and to make sure that I am accurate I need to watch it again. Well off to watch the movie. Till next time.

On The Road Again

I won't get a chance to write in this blog later because I will be on the road home all day. I will be returning to my cozy home in Minnesota. I will be writing in the car on the way up, and hopefully I won't get motion sick doing so. The funeral is over, the extended family is already on their way home, and my novel has made only slight progress on this trip. I did get some writing done last night. Page count for In The Dark is up to 23pages. Keep in mind that these are hand written pages. The reason I write by hand is because it is harder for me to write on the computer. It is much harder to start writing when staring at a blank screen, for me at least. Plus a written page seems to fill up more quickly and is more gratifying. If I had ink for my typewriter I would write on that but alas it is out of ink. I still need to buy some. I think I will do that when I get home.

Zero Productivity

Everything is still going slowly. My wish for a solid day of writing has yet to come true. To be fair I was at a funeral for most of the day so I have had very little opportunity to write. I imagine things might settle down enough for me to get writing a little later today. Right now we have the whole family gathering together for dinner and conversation. I really hope that I get a chance to write a lot. I really hate going without writing for this long. In fact I like to write either a lot at once or little bits through out the day. I pray that things calm down. Till next time...

Kansas

Hello. I am currently in Kansas for the funeral of my great-grandmother. I had the opportunity to write a little bit on my way down here. It was one long car ride but at least I was a little bit productive. I finished two pages of In The Dark, bringing the total page count of novel #1 to 22 pages. I feel like the writing is going a lot slower than it should. That might be partly because I had to nix two chapters. What happened was I wrote myself into a corner so I dropped two chapters and started again. I wish I could have a good day of solid writing but that doesn't look likely to happen. Here's to hoping.

Monday, January 10, 2011

Hello

Hello to anyone reading this. I have recently decided to start a blog where I can write about my experiences while writing my many novels. If and when I ever finish them and get them published then I will have succeeded in my quest to become a published author. Sadly I did not have this brilliant idea until after I was started on two novels so you are coming into the mix a little late. Sorry. Anyway more about my novels. Novel #1 is titled In the  Dark, but that may change as time goes on. It is about a girl getting hunted down by a vampire. Novel #2 is titled Masquerade and is a romance novel. Unlike novel #1 it is a little more sophisticated and aimed for a more mature audience. It will most likely turn out into a typical romance novel. I do write things about other things than vampires and romance but nothing that has developed into anything that could be made into a novel. Write now I am 20 handwritten pages into novel #1 and about 6 typed pages of novel #2. My goal is to get finished with at least one maybe both by the end of the year. I would like it if you would follow me all the way through. Till next time, bye.
